Place your baking tray in the oven underneath the broiler, shut the door, and check back in a minute on the degree of how cooked the marshmallow is.ĭepending on how close your tray sits to the broiler the marshmallows will brown faster or take longer, but mine usually take 2-3 minutes. Repeat as many times as you like, do not worry about the top of the smores you will add that once the bottom half has been cooked. On an ovenproof tray or baking pan place a graham cracker half down, then top it with a piece of chocolate to mostly over the surface of the biscuit and finally place a marshmallow on top. The broiler will help just brown on top of the marshmallows quickly so you don't cook the cookie and chocolate too! If you want easier clean up you can line a baking sheet with aluminum foil but I generally don't. Turn the oven on to the broiler setting and take out a sheet pan. But sometimes you want s'mores at home, so broiling them is the perfect answer! So this easy dessert is perfect for camping or a beach bonfire. Now s'mores are traditionally made by roasting marshmallows over an open fire. You could even put some fresh raspberries, blueberries, sliced strawberries, or banana slices on top of the chocolate before the marshmallow! Method These days you can even find s'mores marshmallows that are not as thick but wider. Just make sure you use the large ones, not mini marshmallows. At a push, you could use chocolate chips but they aren't my ideal choice! To switch it up for fun I also like to use Lindt White Chocolate, Cadbury Carmello, Heath Bars, or even Peanut Butter Cups! Good-quality dark chocolate goes perfectly with the sweet marshmallows too. I love to use Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate Bars or Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Squares. Good quality chocolate makes all the difference. S'mores are traditionally made with graham crackers but I also love to use other biscuits like Digestive Biscuits, and Biscoff Cookies, Trader Joe's does some great cookies/biscuits there are some almond ones I love to use! You'll need a top and a bottom cookie/biscuit so if you're using graham crackers you'll need 1 full sheet per s'mores to act as the bread of this dessert sandwich. I like a golden brown marshmallow but if you prefer good ol' charred then go for it, just leave them under the broiler for an extra minute or two!įor this classic American treat you'll need only three things: So easy, takes 5 minutes, and everyone is in heaven! This is when a s'mores made in the oven comes into play. These are perfect if your backyard doesn't have a fire pit with an open flame! Now, don't get me wrong I love beach bonfires or campfires and making s'mores but sometimes I just wan't a warm, ooey, gooey, melty chocolatey, s'mores without all the other stuff. I made these a couple of weeks ago with my nephew and he's asked multiple times since when are we gonna make smores in the oven again, needless to say, they were a hit. Use your oven and the broiler setting to make the perfect Smores in the oven! No fire pit or bonfire is needed! S'mores are the perfect summertime dessert!
